The artwork is a wonderful example of Warli art, a traditional tribal art form from Maharashtra, India. This particular piece illustrates the various stages of farming, a common theme in Warli paintings that reflects the agrarian lifestyle of the Warli tribe.
Product Overview
Traditional Warli painting showing stages of farming, starting with soil preparation, ploughing, sowing and harvesting. There is also a water body flowing in the middle to aid irrigation. Primitive, cave-art like figures depicting slices of village life, the circle of life, and the cycle of the cosmos. The base of the painting is prepared by using a mix of cow dung and water, not only to purify the painting, but also to provide strong adhesion to the colour of the actual painting.

The Artist
Miss Urmila Vayda, from the Palghar district of Dahanu, has always loved "warli" art. Her mother, who is also a warli artist, taught her the craft. She has spent seven to eight years making warli art. So far She visits to many locations to promote Warli art through workshops, exhibitions, and camps. Additionally, she received an "Award" by the Craft Council of Telangana, or CCRT. Recognized as a Young Artist Award. Additionally, she hopes that tribal warli art would gain more recognition and exposure.
